World Trade Center Artifact

The Greenwich Township Emergency Squad is pleased and honored to report on Thursday, May 5th 2011, members of the squad went to JFK Airport to pick up an artifact from the World Trade Center Disaster and brought it back to Greenwich Township Squad building. The artifact will be used for a memorial to be designed and built at the squad building. The events of 9/11/01 have had a great effect on the citizens of Greenwich Township including the tragic loss of one of our residents. This memorial will be a tribute to her, all the people who perished, the first responders of Greenwich and surrounding communities, as well as all the troops that have served on the war on terror and protect our freedom.

The following members responded: Sue Fleming, Gary Hill, Bob Hoyd, Sandy Lebitz, Chuck Purcell, Kathy Williams, Jack Roan, and also from the Stewartsville Fire Company- Kevin Young, and Police Department- Dave Vole and Eric Brown.

We are also pleased to honor two sons of squad members Bob and Jean Hoyd.  Robert Hoyd Jr. and Russell Hoyd served proudly in the army in Iraq.

On 9/11 and after, the residents of Greenwich offered their help and support in any way possible.

We are planning to have the memorial completed before September 11th of this year. Please look for updates.
