Greenwich Township Recreation does not provide
an ice hockey program of our own to the residents of Greenwich
Township. However, the children of Greenwich Township are still
eligible to play for the Phillipsburg Ice Hockey club outside of
Greenwich Township.
Community volunteers run the Phillipsburg Ice Hockey club.
P.I.H.C. is looking to form three teams for the upcoming season:
- , 4th through 6th
grades (6th graders that have not or are not playing check
hockey).
- , 6th through 8th grades.
If a 5th grader is playing organized check hockey, he/she
must play in the Middle School checking league.
- , 8th through 10th
grades.
The Middle School teams will play
approximately 12-15 games, running from the October/November
through March timeframe. There may also be an end of season
tournament held at the Lehigh Valley Ice Arena (LVIA) for Middle
School levels. The JV team will play approximately 20 games. JV
level has playoffs at the end of the season. All games are
played at the LVIA. Middle School games are usually played on
Saturday/Sunday, JV games are usually played on Sunday through
Thursday nights, beginning around 8:00 pm.
The Phillipsburg Area Ice Hockey Program is affiliated with
the Lehigh Valley Youth Scholastic League. At this time, Steve
Trochim and Pete Zarrelli are representing the club at these
meetings and will keep all participants informed of the
decisions made by the league that will impact our club. Any
further questions can be directed to Steve Trochim at
908-213-1076 or Pete Zarrelli at 908-995-4226, or sent via email
to pburghockey@entermail.net.
There will be a $100.00 non-refundable registration fee. This
fee is meant to cover up front team purchases/supplies (such as
pucks, water bottles, etc.), and ice time rental for practices.
It may also be used to pay for a players' USA Hockey fee (see
below). No money will be spent without an individual accounting
given to the families involved. If for some reason it is
determined that a team will not be able to be fielded this year,
registration fees (less any money already spent, such as on a
practice) will be returned to those players effected. The total
fees associated with the program have yet to be determined, but
estimates are outlined below.
It is estimated that the team entry fee
will be somewhere in the $2,200 to $2,500 range. With a team of
13 players, that would come to around $175-$200 per player.
The team fee for JV is around $3,800. The JV
season includes approximately 20 games, so the cost is more for
the team entry. Using a team size of 13 players this comes to
around $300 per player. It will be less with a larger team size.
Practice time costs will need to be added on top of that.
The timeframe for registering our teams and rosters will be
in the August/September timeframe. More details will be provided
as we get them.
